Aerospace Industry 5 Aerospace Industry in the Capital Region The ILA Berlin Air Show The ILA Berlin Air Show is one of the most important inter national trade fairs for the aerospace industry. It is a popular industry forum with accompanying symposiums and an appealing flight program. The ILA is held at the new exhibition venue on the western edge of Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). The Berlin Expo Center Airport provides 150,000 m² of exhibition space, about 50,000 m² of it roofed. BER – Berlin Brandenburg Airport Concentrating the airport system previously spread across the city in one location, Berlin Brandenburg Airport will provide sustainable impetus for further economic development in the region. Once the airport opens, the capital region will be home to a modern and efficient air traffic infrastructure, enabling optimum further development and evolution in this growth industry. Plans call for additional intercontinental connections and the implementation of a hub function. The excellent connection to international markets, combined with the benefits of being located in the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region, offers investors exactly what they need for business success. The Airport Region Berlin Brandenburg coordination office is the professional point of contact for all inquiries. BBAA – The Aerospace Network Berlin-Brandenburg Aerospace Allianz e.V. The Berlin-Brandenburg Aerospace Alliance (BBAA) is the regional trade association of the aerospace industry. The network pools the expertise of the capital region’s key aerospace players, from industry and R&D to economic development organizations. The BBAA helps to raise the profile of Berlin-Brandenburg as a major location for the aerospace industry and supports related marketing strategies. Key objectives of the BBAA include supporting small and medium-sized aerospace companies on innovative projects, spurring develop ment in the unmanned aircraft segment and organizing more effective chains of suppliers and services. Ten benefits for your investment • Highest research density in Germany • At the intersection of the most important European transport axes (TEN-T corridors) • Close proximity to growth markets in Central and Eastern Europe • Fast and non-bureaucratic permit and licensing procedures • Local access to leading businesses in the industry and innovative suppliers • Optimal networking in and with the regional aerospace industry via the Berlin-Brandenburg Aerospace Alliance (BBAA) • Highly qualified, highly motivated and available skilled workers and managers; flexible working hours • Excellent traffic, transportation and telecommunications infrastructure • Germany’s political decision-making center • Venue of the ILA, the third largest trade fair in the world in this segment
